Great Photos from Ron Gelman,
     Class of 1965

I would like to personally thank Ron Gelman for the great photos he sent in.  I also have to apologize for taking so long to get these great shots on the web site.  Ron made a special trip to Rockaway and personally asked me what I would like to have him photograph.  Of course I asked him to visit my old neighborhood which is located around 27th Street and Seagirt Blvd.

In addition to the current photos he sent, Ron also sent in some great old photos (circa 1960's) of the Arverne area and some wonderful 'people' photos.  There is one of Barbara Frazier who I recognized the moment the photo opened on my screen.  The problem is that I can't remember how I knew Barbara.  Was she a friend of my former wife, Eileen Herskowitz, did she work at Walbaum's in Arverne, or (god help me for not remembering) did I date her????

Anyway, enough of the ramblings my impaired brain.......click below to view the great photos.  Thanks again Ron for your wonderful contribution to the Rockaway experience.

Sincerely,

Skip Weinstock, Class of 1963

Never underestimate the power of the Internet.  Only hours after posting this page I received the following letter from Barbara Frazier:

Ron Gelman and Barbara Frazier - 1963Hi Skip

Yes it's me Barbara Frazer Powell.  Wow was I ever that young.  You and I knew each other back then when you were dating Eileen.  Eileen and I were very good friends and I do believe we double dated a few times but I don't remember who I was dating at that time.  Oh well..........
I write to Ron often now, and have also connected with a lot of old friends and have kept in touch with many of them since leaving Far Rock in the 70's.

It was great seeing the photos and I still miss Far Rockaway a lot.  Anyone who may remember me and would like to get in touch can e-mail me at bjpstoy@aol.com.  I know live in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Again thanks for the photos.          Barbara Frazer Powell

Thanks Barbara for your wonderful note.  I guess my memory isn't completely gone yet!  I'll be in touch soon.
