I would like to note on the web site the establishment of a Scholarship Fund founded in my mother's memory, The Far Rockaway High School Julie Rapport Scholarship Fund.  This scholarship is to be awarded to the student that has excelled in the Arts, despite personal adversities. This student shall also exhibit a strong moral character & community involvement.  My mother was an avid art & jazz collector & VERY active in our community.  All 3 of her children attended FRHS...Robin, Peter & Carol.

Hi Peter,

Thanks so much for your note.  I think it's wonderful that you have established a scholarship fund in your mother's memory.  I will be happy to post an announcement.  I recognize the address as that of the high school.  I am sure that you have already worked out the details with them but in the event that the grads ask, please let me know as much as you can about the scholorship: amount they plan to give each year, one or more students?, etc.  Please also let me know how you went about establishing the fund because others might be interested in doing it also in other areas.

Once again, congratulations on honoring both a worthy student as well as your mother's memory.  I think it's a great tribute.

I am sorry it has taken me this long to respond... you know, I didn't really know the answers to those questions.  My sister has contacted the person at FRHS (Linda Olarsh) responsible for this & ...One student, it appears as though it will be approx. $1000 per year. Donations to the FRHS Julie Rapport Memorial Fund can be made to the school attention: Linda Olarsh.
