On the west side, I remember a Chevrolet dealer (Mel), a
large bicycle store (Champagnes), the telephone building, Winkler Moving
and Storage, a furniture store (Phillips) and an English Tudor style two
story building that was demolished when they reconfigured the road and
made preparations for the new Far Rockaway Shopping Center. This
turn-of-the-century building housed a small narrow luncheonette on its
corner, Browser Records, a fortune-teller, a hat shop, and a large bar
at the west end. Located on the second floor were a few law offices.
The bus station was then situated on the north side of this building.
