Moving further on Plainview Avenue - circling south towards Seagirt Boulevard, my intention was to turn onto Crest Road - but it was blocked by that same sort of large black iron fence so I proceeded on to Seagirt - facing west. I parked on the north side of Seagirt and took pictures of what had been a small shopping center on what
was left of Seagirt Avenue. A small grocery store that had been called "Londons" in the 50s was still there - but operating under a different name. A small strip mall that was on the north side of the avenue had housed several stores that I remember from my youth. Frank's Bicycle Repair/Rentals, a luncheonette (Harry & Pearls), a dry cleaner (Sol-Milt), a specialty toy store (Postal Brothers), a barber shop and a bakery - the strip had been torn down and replaced with garden apartment houses.
