My next stop was the WaveCrest Gardens Shopping Center on Plainview Avenue. There is a large black iron fence surrounding the property. You can no longer enter or exit from the Plainview Avenue side. You have to enter from Beach 20th Street. The corner store which had been known as The WaveCrest Luncheonette since the shopping center open in early 1950 is now a Subway Sandwiches. The WaveCrest Drug Store is no more -- replaced by a large CVS store at the complete other end of the shopping complex. The Food Fair store (which had been replaced by Dan's after Food Fair went out of business) is still operating--but under a different brand name. I did not see any store names that I recognized from my last visit to the area 21 years ago.
