The following photos were sent in by Joel Roberts, Class of 1969. He has sent along some great photos including several of Central Avenue , P.S. 42, JHS 198, and the Far Rockaway Shopping Center on Mott Avenue, all taken very recently. It seems like yesterday that I played handball at 198 and and stopped into the Central Deli for one of their great hot dogs. Thanks so much for sending them. I'm sure that it has been many years since many of us have seen the Mortons and Strand signs. I can't believe they're still there!
The Strand movie theater sign as seen from the corner of Central and Cornaga Avenues
The Morton's Army and Navy Store sign is still visable at the same intersection
A great photo of Central Avenue. How about a slice and a coke?
A photo of JHS 198 taken from outside of the playground.
The Far Rockaway Shopping Center on Mott Avenue near the subway station and P.S. 42
A great photo of temple Derech Emunoh on Beach 67th Street which I believe has been made an historical landmark by the City of New York.
Thanks again Joel for spending the time to take these photos for the web site. I know we all appreciate your efforts and thank you for sharing them with us.
