Light the Nights Leukemia Fund Raiser

I’m a 1976 graduate of FRHS.  I have been dealing with some health issues for the past 6 months.  I was diagnosed with Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in November.  That was the bad news.  The good news is that I completed my chemotherapy at the end of March and I am in remission.

Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (NHL) is insidious.  In the many hours that I spent waiting for and receiving treatment, and the time that I spent in the hospital watching other patients walk by past my room door pushing their IV carts, I was struck by the diversity of the patients.  NHL is an equal opportunity offender.  It doesn’t discriminate.  It affects men & women, young & old, all races, and nationalities.  Currently, there are over 300,000 people in the US who have, or are in remission from NHL.  I’m one of them!

This has been a transforming experience for me.  I am compelled to help others dealing with cancer.  For those of you who don’t know, I have a part time career as a radio DJ.  I work weekends on WALK 97.5, Long Island’s #1 radio station.  With the help of WALK 97.5 & the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, I’m proud and honored to be the voice of the Light the Nights fundraising walks here on Long Island.  They will take place in the fall.  Light the Nights is a national fundraising event.  I will be doing my own fundraising and you will hear lots of on-air promotion for the events on WALK 97.5.

Please visit my personal website for information on how you can join “my team”, help me reach my fundraising goal, and maybe join me for the walk as well.  Thank you, god bless you and be well!!!
