MDA's Wings Over Wall Street 2013 Gala for ALS Research

 
As you may know, I have been involved in a fundraising event called MDA’s Wings Over Wall Street, a Gala fundraiser for ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) research, since its founding by my brother Warren Schiffer (FRHS 1974) and my late sister-in-law in 2001.  My sister-in-law, Warren's wife, died in 2004 from ALS.  In 12 years and with your help, Wings has put nearly $10 million in the hands of the ALS researchers at The Packard Center for ALS Research at Johns Hopkins and at the Eleanor & Lou Gehrig ALS Center at Columbia, as well as through the MDA’s ALS Division Research Grants Program.  We again need your help for 2013.
 
The 2013 Wings Gala will be held on September 26 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Broad Street Ballroom (41 Broad Street, between Beaver Street and Exchange Place).  We really need your help.  We all have other things to do and can easily put this off for another day, but those living with ALS cannot put off the effects of ALS for another day. They struggle and fight each day and we have to step in and be their voice. Now is the time. We have to make Wings 2013 a great success so that the ALS researchers can make progress on finding a cure. Your help is needed. Do it in Peter’s memory.  Don't put it off. Reach out today. Please.
We invite you to attend on September 26.  Tickets are $300 (if your organization sponsors you get a number of admissions).  If you can’t attend but are interested in helping, we still need individual or company sponsorships, donations of any amount, auction donations, raffle ticket sales, and research minute donations.  If you have contacts (family, friends, colleagues) that can provide unique auction items like hotel or restaurant gift certificates, golf experiences, back stage or behind the scenes experiences, sports or other memorabilia, we really can use many more auction items.  Our raffle this year is for a Piaggo Fly 50 scooter for $100 a ticket and only 500 tickets will be sold (great odds).  I have tickets if you or your contacts would like to buy a raffle ticket.  Below is some information.  Our website has all the details.  www.wingsoverwallstreet.org.  

Please spread the word to your contacts about Wings.  We need all the help we can get to help find a cure for those with ALS.  Please contact me or Warren if you would like to sponsor, donate, participate, or buy a raffle ticket.  Together, we can find a cure for ALS.
