I shopped for my clothing on Mott Avenue (Mr. B's Clothing Closet), bought bread and cake from Cushman's, had prescriptions filled at the local pharmacy (Cheron's), my mom frequented a beauty salon on the south side of the strip, and of course, the local Post Office.  For years even after I moved away from the Rockaways, I still maintained a post office box at the Far Rockaway Post Office.  (Not all good memories of the post office - the draft board was located on the second floor of the building!)  Actually, this building is the second post office building in the area; the first being in the Leek Building on Cornaga and Central Avenues.
