STUDENT SERVICES OFFICE

Hello Olympic Community!

We are entering the sixth term and Student Services is really beginning to buzz.  Students wishing to see me and review their credits should fill out a yellow appointment slip and I will call for them in the order they turn them in.

Seniors - Seniors are much focused on earning all of the credits for graduation.  Any graduating student must have all work completed and turned in by June 8.  This is to allow us time to enter the credits and verify that students have completed all of the requirements.  Senior activities are highlighted elsewhere in this newsletter.

Super SeniorsDuring May some seniors will have an opportunity to apply for Super Senior status.  This enables qualified students to stay at Olympic for one semester while they finish their graduation requirements.  To be considered, students must complete an application and meet the criteria.  They must have a minimum of 170 credits and 80% attendance and have had minimal discipline referrals for the current school year.  Students should watch for the announcement in the bulletin regarding applications.  Any student turning 18 before the start of the year will be reviewed on a case by case basis to determine the best interest for all.

Summer School Applications for summer school are available in student services.  Sophomores and juniors should plan to attend.  Classes are from 7:30 am – 1:00 pm.  Each of the two sessions is three weeks in length and only consists of one class.  Sessions are June 18 – July 6 and July 9 – July 27. Students can earn 5 credits per session.  Students should arrange to meet with me to select classes and sign the application.  I will send them to district for your convenience. Both DVC and LMC are offering summer classes as well.  Credits from both of these schools are triple counted for high school.  Remember, these classes will be a condensed and fast-paced version of a semester class.  Students should see Mrs. Enz in the Career Center (room 16) for applications and course selection support.

Registration for Fall 2007Walk through registration has been scheduled for August 16 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm and August 22 from 8:00am to 10:30am.  Your parent must accompany you to registration in order for you to get to your schedule.  Watch your mail in early August.  Orientations for new students will be held on four different dates.  Families will be notified individually about the date and time of these events.

It is my hope that all of you enjoy the end of the year.  See you at graduation!

Laurie Clark, Vice Principal

CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT FORMS

If you are planning on taking classes at DVC, LMC, or DeAnza over the summer, you must have a Concurrent Enrollment Form signed by an Olympic Administrator prior to enrolling in the class. These must be signed before June 14th!

ALLIANCE PROGRAM

Alliance summer school will be held here at Olympic this year.  This means that you will come to school here as during the regular year and find many of the same faces that worked with you during the year.  This will be a great opportunity to earn 10 credits towards graduation at your usual place here at Alliance.

Summer School for all other programs will be held at Northgate High School and Concord High School. Check with Student Services for applications.

TESTING

While we are talking about testing, the STAR tests will be given to 9th, 10th and 12th graders on May 15 and 16.  These tests will cover Math, English, Science and Social Studies.  The STAR tests are very important and need to be taken as seriously as the CAHSEE.  So please come those days prepared to do your very best.
