PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Olympic and Alliance Parents and Students:
I am writing with some important news for the Olympic/Alliance community. It is with very mixed emotions that I must inform you that I will be stepping down from my position as Principal of Olympic at the close of the current school year. My family and I have decided to do extensive traveling outside the country during the upcoming school year. This trip of several months will require a full year’s leave of absence, and the leadership needs of the school require that I step down. I may return to MDUSD in another capacity following our trip, but I don’t know yet what the future will hold.
I cannot begin to express my sadness at leaving this amazing community, or my gratitude for the privilege of working here for the past 7 years. I have learned and grown immeasurably because of our work together. I value and respect each facet of our community – the staff, students, parents and community supporters.
I am making this announcement now so that there is ample time for a thorough search for the next Principal and for a smooth transition in leadership. Olympic has a solid tradition of positive, well-considered and effective change when change is necessary. Our recent successful WASC visit indicates that the school is well organized for consistent growth and improvement, well staffed, and resilient. I am certain that the positive momentum evident at Olympic will continue unabated due to the commitment of everyone involved.
Over the next few months I will be working with the rest of our Administrative Team, Laurie Clark and Bruce Croskey, to prepare for the leadership transition. If you have questions, comments or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me by calling the school office at 687-0363 or emailing me at bartleyr@mdusd.k12.ca.us.
Warm regards,
