THE ICING ON THE CAKE

After six months of constant planning, on Saturday night, June 17, 2006 at 7:00pm, we all gathered for a much anxiously awaited event:  the 30 Year High School Reunion of the Class of 1976.

As everyone entered the door, signed in and picked up their gift bags, the screams started, the hugging began, and the anticipation of seeing old friends commenced.  It was a seriously wild ride that can only be described as euphoric!  We laughed, we drank, we cried, we drank, we talked, we drank, we ate, we drank, we danced, we drank. (Get the picture?  We haven't changed at all! LOL!)  We reminisced and talked about our lives now, discussed our spouses and kids and all in all, had a truly wonderful evening.  The only down point of the evening was that it only lasted five hours when, in reality, we all really needed a full weekend!

The festivities rejuvenated the soul and brought us all back to our roots and of many, many happy times when growing up in the 70s was so joyous for us all!  We re-connected with old friends, talked to people we really weren't friends with back then and, therefore, made "new" old friends.  Those of you who were unable to join us were missed terribly and thought of that evening.  Those of us that have, unfortunately, passed too early, were remembered and thought about fondly.

I hope the reconnections which were made that night will hold now that we remember what true friends we have in each other and the bond that we all share which, for some unknown reason, keeps holding us together.  Don't question it; just accept it as something wonderful in our lives that we all have in common.  If that be the case, my wish for that evening has been fulfilled!  Here are some of the comments that our alumni had about that evening.  Read them, enjoy the photos following, and remember fondly once again, all those that are so near and dear to us all.

Friends always and my love forever,

Liz

ALUMNI COMMENTS

Lisa Morgan: It was an awesome night. Reconnecting with everyone was more wonderful than I can put into words. It is something that will be a vivid memory for me for the rest of my life.

Eileen Stier: Despite the changes, the hearts and souls of these people are the same...for a moment we were back there in FRHS or at Granada or on the Dunes or on the beach... it was the best of times, it was the worst of times...but it was unforgettable in so many ways...and I truly can say that I would do it all over again, even if I couldn't change a g-d damn thing!

Zack Levokove: 30 years went by in a "blink of an eye."

Chuck Elder: a total success....it was just great seeing all those people in that setting. I didn't think he remembered me but he actually came running over to me with a big bear hug....it was just touching. (Talking about Don Levy.)

Charlie Biener: The best part of the event is reacquainting oneself with friends who may have drifted apart, but who actually share so much in common.

Marian Dulberg: It was wonderful to see everyone after so many years.

Michelle Abramowitz: It was truly a most memorable evening.

Ellen Silverstein: I would not have seen old friends or even remembered some of them, without the reunion.  It was so nice to reconnect with people who shared so much of your life, good and bad.

Holly David: It was truly a wonderful evening, and I really enjoyed sharing memories with some old friends. I had a blast!!

Liz Schwartz: Standing there just looking at the room, I had a complete and total feeling of overwhelming happiness that I've never had in my life! My heart was so full it felt like it was going to burst!

Marc Arnel:  We had a night to remember for a very long time.

Naomi Mizrachi:  It was soooo great to see everyone and I felt like I was 16 again.

Pat Tomlinson:  All the friends....the atmosphere...the genuine warmth and love...no one wanted the night to end!! it was an event that I, along with my brother, will never, ever forget!!

Mindy Haft:  Still thinking about Saturday night...it was awesome.

Nancy Pollock:  I can't get it out of my head!  I keep re-playing it in my mind!  It just doesn't stop!

Marv Rosenberg:  The feelings I have had since seeing everyone have just not gone away. It really was an amazing night...we all share a bond that was so real and we owe it to each other to keep this going!  I love you all and i can't wait till we talk or meet again.

George Kaftan:  This will be a memory that will last in everyone’s minds for years to come.

Roz Bier:  Thank you all for a wonderful night!  At first I hesitated attending, not knowing if I would remember or if anyone else would remember me.  I was wrong and was glad to have the opportunity to see everyone looking the best ever.

Karen Rudnick:  There are many e-mails flowing, and they've all captured the sense of warmth and excitement felt at seeing old companions - people who knew us, and whom we knew when we were all so very young.  Same time, same place 2036?

Jeanie Steiker:  The evening was truly amazing. All of the planning was well worth it to see so many of our old friends and classmates together again. The warmth, friendship, and love was all around us. It didn't feel like 30 years had passed. What a wonderful night! I love you all.

Don Levy: As soon as you entered the room, all you felt was the love!

Stephanie Conrad:  It was truly a magical evening!

Bill Rudolfsky:  I am so happy I was able to be part of our 30th year reunion.  It was a magical and very emotional night for me, reinforcing that our younger days has created this special bond between us that will last forever.
